Did Tesco UK Really Plan To Stop Selling Fresh Fruit To Under 18 Year Old People Without An ID?

the good news is that the plan was scrapped,

thanks to Kate Lancaster, she was buying a packet of vitamin-filled melon in the local Tesco in Plymouth, UK, when the fruit flashed up as ‘requiring ID’, which seems a bit strange as Kate is 37 years old and I had always thought that every one especially the under 18's, should be encouraged to eat fresh fruit, and the reason why the sale of fresh fruit to under 18 year olds needs a ID? in case it fermented and turned alcoholic, that is what the Tesco bosses told Kate Lancaster, they would only be selling fruit to over-18s amid fears it would get customers drunk, but all was not lost, Kate posted on Tesco’s Facebook page asking them to clarify the policy, and she was eventually told it had been a mistake and there were no plans to restrict fruit for under 18s, still they say that any publicity is better than no publicity!
