We Had A Quiet Day At Home,

but it was still a bit of a fun day,

when I came back from the UK I brought lots of chocolates for Diana back with me, amongst them was a chocolate bar that inside it had small pieces of candy that 'popped' in you mouth that Diana loved, thinking back to my youth I remembered a sweet called pop rocks, so unknown to Diana I ordered some from the UK, well they arrived today,

in case you do not know of or have not tried a packet of these, the candy is made by mixing its ingredients (sugar, lactose, corn syrup and flavouring) and heating them until they melt into a syrup, then exposing the mixture to pressurised carbon dioxide gas (about 600 pounds per square inch or 40 bar) and allowing it to cool, the process causes tiny high-pressure bubbles to be trapped inside the candy, when placed in the mouth, coming into contact with saliva the candy breaks and dissolves, releasing the carbon dioxide from the bubbles, resulting in a popping and sizzling sound and leaving a slight tingling sensation,

when I said I had bought a few I ordered one pack of each, cherry, apple and orange, 60 in a pack, so 180 popping treats for Diana,

finger licking, tongue tingling, mouth popping treats, great fun!

after our evening meal Troy, a great epic of the story of the face that launched a thousand ships, but for a realistic view of history have a read of the National Geographics take on the story

we then started on Foyle's War the second series, we had borrowed these from Nick and Maureen, but unfortunately series 1 was not available, but it did not matter as each episode is a complete story in itself, only the lead characters go from episode to episode, anyway very watchable and entertaining, we are both looking forward to the next episode,

we rounded of the evening with another couple from Red Dwarf, tonight Psirens and Legion, watching those and popping space rocks the time flew past, so at the midnight hour we were off to bed.
