both enjoy firework displays,
every year we would go to the International one in Pattaya,
which as you might expect,
was spectacular,
all of the above were taken in Thailand, we try to go to public fireworks shows in the UK as well, but here is the thing with displays in the UK, some local councils just do not like them, take Southwark in London for example, for 16 years everyone enjoyed the display, but then it was cancelled, the council called it off in 2020 due to Covid-19, the event
failed to return the following year, Southwark News last week
revealed officials had decided to pause holding the event indefinitely, the council blamed
the cost of living crisis and the impact of pandemic, and so to this year’s
excuse for not having a firework display, have you guessed it yet? climate
change! Joseph Brown, Southwark’s cabinet boss, told a scrutiny meeting on
October 12: “We are in a position where we have to balance all our decisions
against our climate emergency priorities and actually we know it’s very
difficult to run a carbon neutral fireworks display on the scale we have done
previously. We would have to find a way to offset that in order to do it.” How strange
that other councils do not have the same agenda and give joy to their constituents, but there it is, did I hear someone say council killjoys?
