The Truth Is Out At Last,

all of those bins you have in the UK are rubbish!

I have always maintained that recycling in most cases costs far more than the rewards, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs have now agreed, all of that sifting of your household waste makes no difference when it is shipped abroad, all 12million tons of it,

Whitehall has admitted that waste from recycling bins is being shipped to countries including China, India and Indonesia, where much of it ends up in landfill, the trade in sending rubbish abroad – mainly to Asia – has doubled over the past decade, as councils have increasingly turned to contractors to deal with mountains of waste generated by compulsory recycling schemes, the law states that this rubbish should be recycled once it is sent abroad – but Defra now admits that in some countries it is simply dumped,

the Environment Agency has asked councils to improve the quality of the recycling they collect, and to check what their contractors are doing with it, it has told local authorities: 'in the UK and the EU, increasing amounts of waste collected for recycling are sent overseas for reprocessing, much of the waste collected from households … will ultimately be exported',

I have said it said many times, it is not economically viable to recycle except in very rare circumstance, but try telling that to Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, but for us out here we recycle, costs of land, wages, transport are different from those in the UK so it does make recycling viable, but for the UK and others just give it up, you know it makes sense!
