Diana Was On Late Shift Again,

as I had some printing to pop into the shop, I accompanied her to the bus stop,

wrapped up warm,

as it happens it was an overcast day, but not that cold,

the antique shop closed today,

I popped into the shop to drop off the printing and had a chat with Graham,

arriving home the street lights had just turned on,

so it was feet up for a Second World War movie, Dunkirk, released in 1958 it follows a squad of British soldiers as they fight their way to Dunkirk to be evacuated back to the UK,

which nicely lead to my read and sherry, 'Cheers!',

next eyes down and tuck into liver and bacon, delicious!

for dessert strawberries and grapes,

which I followed with a true life adventure, Against the Ice, it is the story of Danish explorer Ejnar Mikkelsen (Coster-Waldau), who in 1909 embarked on a voyage with a six-person crew to determine whether Greenland was a singular land mass, in the process solidifying Denmark’s dominion over the island. But Mikkelsen’s adventure turns desperate when his crew leaves on a fishing boat while he’s still out on the ice during a scouting mission, leaving him marooned in the bitter tundra alongside engineer Iver Iversen (Peaky Blinders’ Joe Cole). The two men faced blistering conditions and hungry wildlife for almost 28 months,

'Most of Against The Ice is a faithful account of what happened in real life, based on Ejnar Mikkelsen's book. The two heroes. Mikkelsen and Iversen, are both real historical Danish figures. Mikkelsen was an experienced Arctic explorer before the events of the film, having already been on expeditions to Greenland, Alaska, and the North Pole. The unlikely backstory of his partner, Iver Iversen, is also true. Iversen was not part of the original Alabama expedition crew, replacing the crew's original mechanic in Iceland despite having had no previous experience of surviving in the Arctic.'

just as the film ended, and I have to say I really enjoyed the film, Diana arrived home, so it was a coffee and a chat as we watched a New Tricks before we were off to bed.
