One Of The Things Diana Has Been Looking Forward To,

is an ice cream in Harrods,

and she had never been in a black cab before,

so off we went,

good job Steve is slim,

and there we were in no time at all,

Diana strikes the pose,

the cosmetics counter had a nice show of fish to attract fish lovers,

I was looking forward to seeing the fish section later,

we wandered through watches, handbags and jewelry, but there was only one thing on Diana's mind, find the ice cream!

then there we were at Morellis in Harrods, Steve and Kai had one each, the one above is Kai's,

whilst Steve had this chocolate number,

Diana decided on this one, with two spoons

fresh fruit and fruit sauce, it was the food of the gods, but at £13.95 for one glassful it should be good!

the place was immaculate, was it worth it? a difficult one in money terms but with the place, etc, I would happily do it again next year, (but do not tell Diana, I want it to be a surprise),

another lovely aquarium,

then just round the corner another one, they were everywhere!

whilst walking around I was drawn to the piano room, the piano if that it what you would call it sounded like a full orchestra, the thing is the guy could set it up so well he then played the major part, as soon as he stop everyone applauded and asked him to play again, great way to spend 10 minuets or so listening to him,

Diana loves chandeliers, there were plenty to chose from, the most expensive one we saw was £96,000! we went to the pet section, imagine my disappointment to find after seeing all of those aquariums they did not sell fish!

then it was time to go to our next stop, a brisk walk down the road to the Natural History Museum,

this is the more famous side of Harrods that I am sure everyone knows,

we then went past the Brompton Quarter, it is situated at the western end of Knightsbridge, stretching from Harrods to South Kensington, next to the great museums and educational institutions, together with Brompton Cross and the major institutions of the V&A and the Royal College of Art & Design, the area is known for its long contribution to design and fashion, another place to visit in the future,

we went past this building also, I think it is a church but I am not sure,

but I do know what this building is, where do cabbies go to get away from their customers? to the middle of the road, it is a cabbies cafe,

then smiles all round as the museum is in sight,

for me the front entrance of the museum looks absolutely stunning,

the more you look at the brickwork the more detail you can see,

with gargoyles and creatures looking down on you from every level,

I am not sure if Diana knows what to expect,

but here is a brochure of things to do,

into the main hall the first thing that greets you is a huge fossilized dinosaur skeleton and an even bigger queue of people waiting to see the dinosaur exhibition,

so we made our way to the whale hall in the mammals section passing the reptiles first,

I think the sheer size of the whale took Diana by surprise,

it was one of the few exhibits that has stayed in the same place since the 1950's,

we then went to the next viewing floor to get a better look,

Diana dwarfed by the size of the whales,

a saber toothed cat of Ice Age fame, I say cat, is it a lion or tiger?

although this exhibit has been moved from my Grandmothers day, she recalled the first time she went to the museum with her son, (my Dad), he came running up to her to say he had seen a man and a horse with no clothes on!

Diana stands by the great man himself, Charles Robert Darwin,

then up to the next floor,

the queue on the left is to see the dinosaur exhibition,

now this is more like it, precious metals in the geology hall,

at the end of the hall this looked intriguing,

I looked back to find the youngsters had all taken a rest on one of the seats so I went back to bring Diana to The Vault,

precious exhibits everywhere from diamonds to moon rock to gold,

almost too much for Diana,

hundreds of examples of all of the different shades that diamonds occur in,

nearly there,

made it to the top floor at last,

then time for some refreshment, I was so taken with the outside of the building I forgot to look at the name of the pub,

it even had it's own crest above the door,

the inside was just as grand,

with leather chesterfield seating all round the sides of the room,

drinks arriving soon,

we wandered back to Leicester Square only to find the place packed, it was the film premiere of Going the Distance, so we decided to wait to see the stars,

then excitment on the big screen as they arrive,

there was the star of the film Justin Long,

and he was making his way over to us!

he was signing autograph books for his fans as fast as he could, in fairness he walked around the whole fenced of area,

I am not sure what he was asked to sign then but it must have been a bit of a shock! Diana had her sudoku book signed and a smiley face drawn in it as well, we waited for the other person in the movie to walk around as well, but alas she was to busy,

Justin Long, what a nice chap, I hope he stays that way, then we were off to China Town for a meal, but my memory card was full so we took the pictures of the meal with Steve's camera, like a fool I forgot to ask for copies of them, but take my word for it the meal was excellent, then home feet up for a V & S on the balcony.
