The Steam Show Part Three,

now the big guys were in the show ground,
and big they were too,
there were so many manufactures of engines, but if you want more info look here,
then a line up of the miniatures,
meanwhile the horses take a break,
like a blast from the past, which I suppose it is, the full size engines lead the procession,
I was beginning to think he was not going to turn,
the next one advertising the fair,
then the miniatures,
the amount of work that must have gone into the making of these,
if you think about it in the factory where the full size ones are made it is almost a production line,
but for these small engines one man in his spare time starts out with bare metal and makes one from scratch,
over hearing people most seemed to like the blue one,
I wonder if that is a beer keg in the trailer of this one?
there was also a display of fire engines, this one a Green Goddess,
then all the fun of the fair!
dodgem cars and the Ferris wheel plus lots of other attractions are the order of the day,
the traditional swing,
I have often seen the Wall of Death, but I have never actually been inside one, but as Diana was here and was already spell bound by the tricks the guy on the out side was doing we decided to go in,
the bikes were 1923/4 Indians, I have heard that Indians were the most popular for this feat because they had the only carburetor that could cope with the centrifugal force and still deliver petrol to the engine,
one of the bikes on rollers,
look no hands! although it does not look it the wheels are going round at quite a pace,
Diana was really excited,
then the show began, Diana was squeezing my arm and screaming with fright every time one of the riders came near to the safety wire at the top of the wall, I must admit even I thought the riders were a bit close,
and when I say close I mean you could just reach out and touch him as he went by, I am sorry the pictures are a bit blurred but they were going past at quite a lick,
now look at this, sitting on the saddle at 90 degrees to the direction of travel with no arms or legs on the bike, absolutely amazing!
after more death defying tricks the grand finale, all three riders take to the track behind each other, their speed rapidly increases until they are just a blur racing around trying to catch each other up
until all three are abreast, then taking their hands off the bars take a moving bow, what a show, I have never seen Diana scream so much, for the rest of the day and for days in the future she talked about this show so much, if you get a chance to see it you really should, amazing,
the old time Ferris wheel, a part of every fun fair,
and a round about, terrific the way they paint this sort of thing,
a last look at the miniatures,
then it is time for home,
as we started our walk home we passed this lake, nice and peaceful it was too.
