We Had A Quiet Day In On Saturday,

we watched a few DVD's, well I watched a few, Diana cleaned the house, but also for me it was posting the latest on the blog, in the afternoon Brett called round for a chat, so after he left it was feet up for a few hours, then a call from the UK, firstly Graham at work who had been unwell for some time was back on his feet and well again, also I had a win on the football pools, next a home made fish and chip supper then out to the concert, but on the way we nearly took a tumble, one of the local pack of stray dogs crossed the road in front of us, no problem, as we approached it was feet from the other side of the road, then it turned and ran straight back the way it came in front of us, we, on the bike became airborne but luckily stayed on the bike, I do wish pet owners would keep their dogs on a leash and keep them indoors when not walking them, more importantly dispose of them humanly when they are not wanted any more, not just throw them out on the street, I wonder how many people are injured or killed when a car or truck swerves to avoid a dog then hits a pedestrian instead? but on to the concert, although the music had already started we had a walk around the many stalls, this was a mobile aquarium shop, take a bucket and net catch what you want, pay and go, very popular with everyone,
then into the 10 baht tent, everything was in UK currency just 20p, we have been wanting a back scratcher for so long! then of course hair bands and beauty products,
how does the red one look?
you name it they have got it,
row after row of decisions to be made,
the place was huge,
a bouncy castle for the kids of course,
with food stalls galore,
and try your luck stalls,
lots of them,
the previous decision for the red hair band had been reversed for a white one,
by now Diana was hungry so on to the food stalls,
so many to chose from,
I have often seen these coloured drinks for sale but never tried one, they just some how do not appeal to me,
now the serious stuff, the beer tent!
then settle down and enjoy the concert,
Diana arrived back with her food, but she said it was so spicy, I guess that is the one drawback of being mistaken for a Thai person, for a non Thai the food is always hot,
the singer/s were accompanied by a guy playing live on the drums and one of those piano/organs that give a full orchestra sound,
occasionally the musicians would be joined by a guitar player or two,
the music was non stop, but regrettably way to loud, Diana and myself like to have a chat, but it was more like shout than chat,
there were of course comedy acts as well, when previously I said too loud we were at the back of the seating, I do mean it was loud! but a nice way to spend a few hours in the evening, then home for a couple of DVD's,
but first back to the afternoon, I watched the first part of Lord Of The Rings, The Fellowship Of The Ring, I had seen it before, but we had brought over the Blu-Ray DVD of it, far better than the normal DVD, but it really needs a big screen,
then to the evening, Silent Running, no not about a submarine but about an ark that has plants and animals from earth, now uninhabitable, but the arks over time will reseed earth when it is able to support life once more, all is well until the project is abandoned and the arks have to be destroyed, it is up to one man to save the ones he looks after, but can he do it? I quite enjoyed this movie, Diana fell asleep 15 minuets into it and woke up at the end, her comment? boring, oh well you can not please everyone all of the time!
then to Needful Things, I had read this book by Stephen King many years ago, again starring Ed Harris, what more could a film need? great story, the film got a little muddled in the middle, but it still gets my vote, basically the devil comes to town and sells the inhabitants things that they think they need for a small cash price and a big moral favour, the townsfolk turn on each other by playing more and more serious pranks on each other with a third party taking the blame, then chaos reigns,
we enjoyed Hill Street so much we watched a couple more of those then off to bed, with me dreaming of what to do with my football winnings, £5.72, I know on Sunday night I will treat myself to an extra 3 vodka sodas, oh no, not enough for that, just two extra ones then, and so to sleep.
