to explore California’s
Mendocino County's pristine redwood grove,
all images
by Brendan McGuigan, © Mendocino Railway, bring
cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts together, Railbikes are
a two-seated, four-wheeled designs,
that are as the name suggest, a bicycle, or perhaps I should say quadracycle, that using pedal power leaves little or no carbon footprint as the forest railway track is explored,
four-wheeled
designs quadracycles run along the centuries-old tracks through the ancient forests
just outside of Fort Braggs,
the
new offering marks a growing trend in eco-tourism and a shift toward outdoor
activities that leave little impact on the environment, with similar offerings
cropping up along rails in Carson City, Sacramento,
and Las
Vegas that have been entirely or mostly abandoned,
although I said they have little or no environmental impact, I should point out that they they
have an electric component for hills and more difficult stretches of the
miles-long route,
Skunk
Train has plans in the works to expand its routes in the
coming months, and you can follow its developments on its site and Instagram, there is a short video above, but you can watch the full length video here to enjoy the ride from the comfort of your own home, what a neat way to explore, and thinking about it, there must be hundreds if not thousands of miles of track that could be used like this all over the world.
