I had a quiet afternoon,
but in the evening I was out to Dang's bar, to meet up with Vic and Joy,
and Tony,
we chatted the evening away as we watched the sights in the street as tourists and tour groups made their way along it, the next day I was up bright and early,
to Soi Bukaow open market,
if you have not seen these before, these are what we in the UK would call Piggy Banks,
in Thailand the equivalent of a piggy bank is กระปุกออมสิน
(pronounced krapuk om sin), which literally means "saving jar," and
while they make piggy-shaped ones (often ceramic or bamboo), the classic Thai
image of a coin bank often brings to mind the famous and tragic turtle Omsin, whose name
means "piggy bank" in Thai and who famously swallowed tourists' coins
for good luck, back to the photograph a young saver looks like he is going to purchase one,
the market has so many food stalls,
but Thai food only,
but there are few stalls offering food on a stick,
as well as cakes,
and freshly prepared drinks,
but most of the stalls,
are for clothes,
lots of clothes'!,
by now I was hungry, so I made my way back to Walking Street,
photographing a few street side stalls on the way,
into Walking Street,
and along the walkway,
to Pattaya Beer Garden for breakfast,
in the distance a brave soul working up a appetite on the end of a piece of rope,
looking at the buildings across the bay,
in the late afternoon I meet up with Phil,
for a meal at our favorite seafood restaurant, Preecha, the address is 200 9, Na Chom Thian, Sattahip
District, +66 87 484 6458,
most of it is covered, but there is a fully open air option on land and on the beach, (tide permitting),
as you walk inside,
there are lots of tanks,
and ponds,
with seafood to tempt you, like these mantis shrimps,
lobsters,
and other shellfish,
we made our way to the covered area,
over looking the beach tables,
'Cheers!', from Phil,
we ordered masses of seafood,
including a tom yum goong,
a huge seabass,
shellfish in aniseed,
crab claws ready to eat,
and huge prawns, all served with lots of crab fried rice,
more soup for Phil,
another beer for myself, no change there then!
I made a short video of our meal, the bill including copious amounts of beer came to 2,700 baht at todays rate £63.54 or $84.67,
as we left we noticed this piece of Americana parked up,
it looked very impressive, from a distance, but would need a lot of TLC to bring it back to its former glory,
we waited for or taxi back to Pattaya as the sun started to go down.
