clubs, pubs and restaurants are having a hard time of it,

 but what of more unusual venues, like haunted houses? 

 haunted house design company Kowagarasetai, has created what it calls the world’s first haunted house drive-through experience,

 as the name suggests, the upcoming horror-inducing event is meant to be experienced from inside a vehicle, with the windows up, in order to minimize the risk of infection with the novel coronavirus. Participants can bring their own cars and pay the admission price of 8,000 yen, at today's rate £60 or $75.10, or if they don’t have one, they can pay 1,000 yen extra and use a four-seat car provided by the company, all company cars are properly disinfected after each session,

the unique haunted house experience will take place in a haunted garage in Tokyo’s Azabu district. According to a press release, “this is a garage where a horrible incident occurred long ago; now people say that if you park your car inside and honk your horn three times, something will happen, also additional story details will play over your car’s radio while you’re parked inside the garage, each haunted drive-through session is expected to last about 20 minutes and participants can expect to see zombies, ghosts and other types of undead. Luckily, they won’t be getting to close for fear of coronavirus infection, the Kowagarasetai haunted house drive through experience will take place on July 4th and July 5th. If you’re planning on going, you can book a spot online, I wonder if the zombies and others will be wearing face masks?

What Lies Beneath?

 when looking at the pyramid in the lovers square, well French artist JR decided to show his vision of it when he pasted thousands of strips of paper around the Louvre in Paris,

he along with 400 volunteers turned the courtyard around the museum into a massive optical illusion. Installed in honor of the structure’s 30th anniversary, the collage titled “The Secret of the Great Pyramid” provides a glimpse at what may lie beneath the iconic glass pyramid,

in a “Photo of the Day” post on his website, the artist explains that the installation was designed to last a single weekend. “The images, like life, are ephemeral,” JR writes. “Once pasted, the art piece lives on its own. The sun dries the light glue and with every step, people tear pieces of the fragile paper. The process is all about participation of volunteers, visitors, and souvenir catchers. This project is also about presence and absence, about reality and memories, about impermanence.”

but here was a slight problem, some visitors took pieces of the installation home, while other strips torn by foot traffic have been discarded, but what an effort to plan and instal an installation like this, to see more of JR’s large-scale photo installations, follow the artist on Instagram, photographs by @JRArt on Twitter.

I know I certainly have, killing off more of them than you can shake a stick at, but here is a miniature garden I have not heard of before, bonkei (literally “tray landscape”) refers to the equally age-old Japanese tradition of arranging small greenery like rocks and moss to create a landscape,

well now you can try this at home thanks to Chiaki Murata and his lifestyle product brand Metaphys, he has put a modern twist on the art, creating a series of planters to help spruce up your desk,

the homes (2,625 yen) can be used alone, or you can combine multiple buildings to create a small town of green rooftops, so instead of me killing off just one tree with too much care and affection I can now kill off a whole garden!

A RARE one MILLION pound bank note will go on auction today

London auction firm Spink will sell the number eight green banknote believed to be one of only two in existence.

The other £1,000,000 note is numbered 000007 and was sold for £8,000 by Spink in 1977 through a private sale. The note was listed by the Guinness Book of Records as being the highest denomination in private ownership. A Spink spokesman told Coinlink the defunct number eight note, entered for sale by UK-based banknote collector Bill Parkinson, may fetch £35,000 to £40,000 at its sale of world banknotes. The eight-inch-wide million pound note was issued after the Second World War in connection with the Marshall Aid Plan and was intended for internal use. It is believed number seven and eight are the only remaining notes of nine that were produced at the time. They were given as mementoes to the US and UK Treasury Secretaries. The number eight note is dated August 30, 1948. The sale will take place at Spink’s auction house in Bloomsbury.
