We Decided To Start Our Sunday,

with a walk in the park,

so it was wrap up warm,

all set,

and we were off,

stopping on the way for a few photographs,

I just had to take a closeup,

we stopped by the map, not that we needed it,

we made our way up the hill on one of the paths,

looking down to where we sat one time last summer,

the park was remarkably deserted, I thought that there would be lots of people taking a pre-lunch walk,

but we had the place pretty much to ourselves, in the far distance the lake,

where there was just one swimmer, way too cold for us!

the stream that used to run here blocked up and forming another couple of small pools,

in the distance,

the mansion house,

on the left what once was two fairways when the park was a public golf course,

in case you get lost,

this is what we were heading for, the So Last Century Fair,

lots of stalls outside as well as in the mansion,

and a fair,

fun for all of the family,

only last Sunday on out trip to Rochester I mentioned that some lucky chap might find a fort under the Christmas tree, and here is another one!

we both started looking at the stalls,

so many bits and pieces here that I remember seeing in our home in the 1950s and in the homes of friends,

looking behind us the fair and the Christmas tree seller doing a roaring trade,

on the other side of the mansion a few more stalls,

looking back to where we had just walked,

we decided to go inside the mansion,

past the fudge stall,

on the right,

inside lots to look at,

books, records, glassware, you name it,

we made our way outside, under the main hall's decoration hanging from the ceiling,

we crossed the green outside,

looking at some of the stalls we had visited,

all of this walking was thirsty and hungry work,

so we had a look at some of the food stalls,

as we passed the entrance to the fair,

decision made,

we would got the the café in the courtyard,

I now know why there were not many people in the park, they were all here!

Diana joined the queue for a coffee and a cake,

I popped round to the side of the building to the bar, no queues there,

I snagged a table overlooking the gardens,

and here we are,

a coffee,

and a cake for Diana,

and a glass of bubbly for myself, 'Cheers!',

we started to make a move for home, past a few more stalls,

a quick pose,

before we walked past the fun fair,

Christmas trees lined up for sale and behind them,

Father Christmas himself,

looking back towards the mansion,

as we made our way past the David Bowie information board,

and past some of the houses in the park,

not far now,

and here we are, a Sunday read and a sherry,

eyes down and tuck in,

to a avocado and prawn cocktail,

a 'Cheers!', as our pheasant arrived,

with gravy for Diana,

sans gravy for myself,

it did not take me long to get stuck in! as it happens when we bought a couple of them at Polhill last week, we were told to look out for shotgun shot,

well I found one, two as it happens, and here is one of them, I swallowed the other one!

for dessert a sherry trifle, then a film fest,

firstly Avatar, which looked stunning, even though we still have the green patch in the middle of the television,

we followed that with another stunning film, The Martian, the special effects of the planet and ship were just so good,

we rounded the evening off with Ravenous, we had watched the film before, this is what I wrote then, 'set in the early pioneer days of the west, a stranger who has spent three months lost in the mountains arrives at the fort, the stranger, played superbly well by Robert Carlyle steals the show, which descends into murder and cannibalism, as the fort they are staying and the subsequent march has a viper in it's party, also worth a mention is the great atmospheric music that played in the movie, by Damon Albarn (of British band Blur) and Michael Nyman', I am only making this one post today as it took so much time and with that we were off to bed.
