Starting With Our Cruise, Our Evening Meal At Rick's,

we enjoyed Rick's so much at lunch time,

we just had to go back, unfortunately taxis are not allowed into the port,

so a coach to the center of town, and then a taxi back to the port,

to where Rick's is, the same at the end of meal, our boat in sight, we had to get a taxi back to the center of town and then wait for the coach to take us back to the boat, a bit of a fath, but there it is,

and here we are,

well I just had to!

a pursue at the menu,

and a legend about the cafe,

we were the second couple in the queue,

very kindly a fellow dinner took our photograph,

which gave us plenty of time to look at the bubbly on offer,

apparently you can not book a specific table, it is first come first served until the restaurant is full, the good news was that there are 2 tables that are in just the right position, and we had one of them!

looking at the upstairs part of the restaurant,

all set,

I would love to have a couple of these dinner plates, I did enquire as it happens but none were for sale,

a look at the menu,

over a cocktail and a glass of red wine,

for Diana Champagne oysters, they were served in a rich Champagne creamy sabayon and parmesan cheese sauce,

for myself a smoked salmon salad, 'Cheers!',

and one from Diana,

our main courses arrived, lamb for myself,

a steak for Diana,

the waiter amongst others actually remembered us from lunch time! which considering how busy they were now and then was quite remarkable,

before desserts Diana wandered off to take a few photographs on her phone,

the pianist had arrived, there are 2 sittings the later sitting with the full band, but alas it was fully booked, so we had the early sitting,

nevertheless it was just so nice,

Diana popped upstairs,

taking a few photographs from the gallery there, as it happens these are the 2 nicest tables there, right next to the band and in the center of things,

our desserts, Diana went with Rick’s Cheesecake, a classic from Rick’s Café, unchanged since day one, offering an exquisite, enduring taste of dessert perfectio,

for myself a ice cream smoothie, and another 'Cheers!',

as we left I had to have a chat with the pianist, it was just so nice to hear some of the tunes we have watched in the film Casablanca, and now actually hear them live in Rick's, the meal came to £180.00, as it happens the food was more than reasonably priced, but the alcohol was just so expensive, I am guessing being a muslim country alcohol attracts a high import tax, but all in all what a wonderful evening, back to Blighty,

first thing the crew fitting the new fire door arrived, this time with no problems now the door with suspected asbestos had been removed, it looked easy but all of the surround both inside and out had to be changed to make them fire proof,

then the hanging of the door fine tuned, it is quite neat in that before we had a draught excluder at the bottom of the door, but when this one closes a insert in the bottom of the door extends downwards to make a air/smoke tight seal,

and here it is all done, outside,

and inside, the cost? including the removal of the old door £3,500, ouch! the problem is there are many companies that can supply 'fire proof' doors, but, they can not supply a fire certificate that the building's insurance company needs, hopefully it will last a few years, in the evening,

my read and sherry with the latest copy of Private Eye that had arrived this morning,

for tonight a chicken jalfrezi, 'Cheers!', after which the usual Outback Opal Hunters, I then followed that with 2 from,

Deadly 60, both of which again were totally captivating, one from the icy wastes and one from the searing heat of a dessert, after which Diana arrived home, so feet up for a Midsomer Murder, after which she was off to bed, for myself a double helping of Bangers & Cash, after which I too was off to bed.
