so we had a quiet, lazy day,
until the afternoon,
when we were out into a bright, blue warm day,
arriving at the station we caught a train,
arriving at Bromley South in 2 stops, much quicker than the bus that still had not arrive as we pulled out of the station,
in Bromley pretty planters everywhere,
over the road looking back at the station,
we decided on a alfresco coffee and watched the crowds walk past,
then into the precinct by the new council offices, and as it happen it was a year ago today that we were at the Council civic offices,
when Diana met the Mayor of Bromley, and before him swore the pledge of allegiance to King Charles III and the country, it took 6 years and many thousands of pounds, but now Diana is finally a citizen of Great Britain with all that that entails, to be able to vote, and go through the UK passport holders line at customs, instead of hours of waiting as we have done since we first started coming to the UK the time just seems to have flown past we both never realised 12 months had passed since then,
looking back to the courtyard of the local spoons,
and this is what we were going to see, the latest Jurassic Park, this one titled Jurassic World: Rebirth,
we settled into our comfy seats, used the button to extend the leg rest and the back recline, I will not comment too much in case you have not watched the film yet, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the movie, Diana jumping in her seat a few times! but what I will say is some of the 'new' dinosaurs looked and were really fearsome,
film over and out into the bright light,
past the station with its planters outside,
we walked past the Glades,
but had to call into H & M,
and Primark to pick up a few clothes for work,
and this is where we are going, Mount Everest, one of our 2 favorite Indian restaurants in all of Croydon, Bromley and Beckenham, I guess I should say technically they are not Indian restaurants as such, but both are Nepalese,
inside a nicely laid out bar,
and dinning area,
our poppadums' arrived,
as well as a bottle of bubbly as we perused the menu,
our starters arrived, a mixed platter for Diana, which consisted of a medium spiced chicken tikka, lamb tikka and sk kebab, for myself a huge prawn puri,
next our main courses, chicken Gurkha, supreme chicken cooked with
mushroom and peas in a medium spiced sauce, recipe from Gurkha Land Nepal, a lamb Everest, which was a highly flavored
spiced dish cooked with various Himalayan herbs and a prawn dish, king prawns served with the chef's special charisma sauce, we also added mushroom cooked with pilau rice and a garlic nan bread,
for desserts a Indian ice cream in a pot for Diana, and for myself?
you guessed it! a rum coffee, all of the meal was excellent the portions large and full of flavors, the bill with Diana's coke came to £130.00 including service charge,
next on to a 354 bus and a walk through the park and home, it was then time for feet up and a film, Diana decided on one from the Steve martin box, Sgt. Bilko, I had watched it recently but it was well worth watching again,
here is what I wrote then:
"I watched Steve Martin in Sgt. Bilko, I liked the original series, I first started watching it with dad aged 7 in 1957, I have to admit I asked dad frequently what was happening, but dad enjoyed it so much and I liked watching it with him, back to the film, it is so funny, in truth I can not think of a better actor to have played this role in the film as Steve Martin, but it was not plain sailing for the film, from the article:
"According to Spy Culture, the makers of Sgt. Bilko similarly asked the U.S. Army for “access to an Army base and other support for the film.” But the “entertainment liaison” took a look at the script and deemed it to be totally unacceptable. As one memo noted, “The hero was a crook and the ‘bad guys’ were officers.” They also objected to the movie’s “antiquated” portrayal of the military, which they claimed was “incompatible with the film’s present day setting.”"
which lead to this end of film credit:
“The filmmakers gratefully acknowledge the total lack of cooperation from the United States Army.”
but in any event I totally enjoyed watching the film again, after which we watched two from the It Ain't Half Hot Mum, box set before we were off to bed.
