normally a lobster that is this size goes straight to the pot, but this blue one was saved because of its colour, Rex Goldsmith thought the stunning lobster was too nice to eat and bought it before handing it over to researchers at the Natural History Museum on November 9th last week, scientists at the museum believe the European lobster, traditionally a much darker shade of blue, hatched out with the unusual colour due to a rare genetic variant,
Rex, 45, was buying supplies for his shop, The Chelsea Fishmonger, when he saw the lobster at Billingsgate Market, he said: 'it's the most striking blue lobster I have seen in my 30 years in the business and was too nice to put in a pot and boil',
hopefully after it has finished its quarantine it will go on display at the London Aquarium, so I guess a competition will be held as to what to call it, Lucky is the name that springs to mind!
