a new book that was published in October should be hitting the shops about now,
titled The Lost Photographs of Captain Scott, it contains many up to now forgotten photographs that Scott himself took, he was trained in photography by Herbert Ponting, the official expedition photographer, who had his own dark room in Scott's hut, the setting of each photo is described in the text, along with a description of the people in each image and context as to when each image was taken, most of the 120 images have never been seen by the public before, not every ones taste in reading but for me a real gem,
for anyone that does not know, Robert Falcon Scott led an ill fated expedition to the South Pole, his wife received a radio message, 'Captain Scott and six others perished in a blizzard after reaching the South Pole January 18th', also for anyone in or visiting the UK in January 2012 a selection of the photos will be on display in the exhibition, Scott's Last Expedition, opening at the Natural History Museum, London, on 20 January.
