I Must Admit I Do Like Orchids,

and here are two that I am not likely to see in the flesh,

both are incredibly rare, for rare read expensive, the first is the is the Gold of Kinabalu Orchid, it is also known as Rothschild’s Slipper, (P. rothschildianum) which can cost up to $5,000 per piece and can only be found in the Kinabalu National Park in Malaysia, aside from being rare, growing this flower is very difficult and takes a very long time, taking usually around 15 years to flower,

but for the rarest of the rare it has got to be the Shenzhen Nongke Orchid, an entirely man-made orchid that was developed by a team of Chinese agricultural scientists in Shenzhen Nongke University in 2005, it took eight years of agricultural research in order to create this new specie, which only blooms every 5 years, that is why when it was sold in an auction, it was purchased for $200,000!
