I decided to blend in with the tourists on the way back and wear a colourful tourist shirt, unfortunately I blended in to well, again on the way back we were stopped 3 times by the police, at one stop one of them wanted 500 baht! outrageous! luckily he eventually settled for100,
a view of the restaurant from the road, if you are tempted to take a picture like this remember at this point the road is downhill and traffic tends to speed up!
also in the grounds there is this coffee shop,
and a view into the restaurant where local goods are for sale,
another ice coffee for me and food for the girls,
well I suppose it had to happen, years ago when I used to go to Buriram regularly I would see three serious accidents like this each way, but things are getting safer now, we only saw one on the way up, a gas carrier had over turned and this one on the way back, the mountains here used to be a particularly bad spot with runaway rigs, but now most of it is two lanes and there are runoff areas, it is now a lot safer, we arrived home about 5 in the afternoon, a real refreshing break from Pattaya, in all we travelled just over 1,700 kilometers in the 4 days we were gone and it was lovely, everything up there is so laid back compared to Pattaya, would I go again? you bet!
