Today Is A First,

we are now using our new camera,

the reason we had not used it before is that our computer needed to format the memory card, but then gave a message that it could not, so unlike me I read the instructions, it appears that old computers like ours that run on steam cannot recognise the new generation of memory cards and worse if the computer formats them can damage them, this from the Panasonic SD card site,

If an SDXC memory card is inserted into a PC or a host product that does not support SDXC memory cards, a message may prompt you to format the card. Do not format the SDXC memory card in a non-compatible host product; it will erase the data on the SDXC memory card and format the card for a different file system that will no longer work with SDXC host products.

so having paid for a SDXC card make sure you do not damage it by putting it a old computer like ours and formatting it, as luck would have it I used the site and downloaded a program so that our computer now recognises our SDXC card, so on to the post with the new camera, first stop the fishing tackle shop, we are going fishing later in the week so we decided to pick up the bait,

whilst waiting for Diana I took a picture of the general store next door,

on to Tesco Lotus, a picture of me with the sun behind me,

and me looking into the sun,

shopping done we just had to call into Swensens,

 ice creams served,

it was time to tuck in,

a green tea special for Diana, whilst I had a strawberry tower,

going past the fishing tackle shop we decided to stop and try out the panorama shooting mode of the camera,

and here it is, the tackle shop is directly opposite us, the white truck parked outside it, the road although looking curved is in fact straight, but I can imagine in certain situations the effect could look quiet stunning,

after our evening meal we decided to watch Empire of the Sun, an aristocratic British youth is separated from his family at the start of World War II after the Japanese Army invades British controlled areas of China. Reduced to living on the street and fighting for food, the youth is eventually interned in a Japanese POW camp for British civilians after hostilities cease his subsequent reuniting with his family, the film is based on J. G. Ballard's autobiographical novel, which tells the story of the boy, James Graham, whose privileged life is upturned by the Japanese invasion of Shanghai, December 8, 1941,

followed by Awakenings, based on a true tragic story, the film is about an experimental drug and how it successfully awakened many patients from catatonic states which had lasted as long as 30 years, the tragedy was that the patients were locked in their own world, brought out of it by a miracle drug then watched helplessly as one by one they slowly slipped back into a living nightmare,

to put a happier spin at the end of the evening we watched a few more from Cheers, I have gone straight on to the post today as I am off early for my check up, just the usual, it seems like a good idea to have a medical every three months or so, especially as it is reasonably priced and almost a walk in and walk out procedure, but back to the evening by now it was late so we were off to bed.
