as the show is over,
but up to today if
you were in the Netherlands in Westervoot at night and looked to the skies you would have seen
moving waves, illustrating where the sea level would be if dyke's gave
way and the area flooded,
the show calleed Waterlicht was
created in partnership with Dutch water board Rhine and IJssel to raise
awareness that large areas of the Netherlands lie below sea level, Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde created the effect using LEDs which are projected through lenses to focus the light,
the sources are installed around the periphery of the area, positioned so the
beams criss cross in midair as they slowly move up and down – powered by
motors, the lights lit up an area of some 1.6 hectares, what a fantastic sight it must have been.
