We Only Had Two Things To Do Today,

firstly go to the bank,

and get Diana's name put on to mine so we have a joint bank account, secondly go to the doctors to register that we are now living in the UK, it sounded so easy, but it was not to be, despite us having all of the paperwork to say that Diana was here, we needed her name on a utility bill before the bank would even think of adding her name to mine, we were assured this was easy to do, so we walked back through the town,

taking a few photographs as we went,

The George was tempting, but we were on a mission, arriving at the doctors we had the same conversation as we had at the bank there, without Diana's name on a bill we could not jointly be put on the doctors list,

we started the walk home, passing the gatehouse at the Knoll,

looking along the road St. George's,

behind us Beckenham Methodist Church, we arrived home, switched on the computer to add Diana's name to the utility bills, and that is when our problems began, who ever made the law change to say a wife who was newly arrived to the UK and has to have their name added to a utility bill, had obviously never tried to do so, the good news was that we tried Bromley council first to have Diana's name added to the council tax bill, I sent an email and we explained that we had waited till the New Year to do this, so could they please be as quick as possible, the reply came back that in 10 working days our request would be considered, Thames water was a little more cooperative, and all seem well, but as they only issue a bill twice a year we have a bit of a wait to see if we were successful, next OVO, our electric and gas supplier, going through the pages of help, there only seemed one course of action, I had to leave the property and close the account, then move back in again as Mr. and Mrs and open a new account, what a mess and with that we gave up,

after our evening meal we watched a few quiz shows, I was also soundly beaten at cribbage, Diana winning every game, then the first of two films for the evening, firstly Maigret, Dead Man,

followed by Maigret Sets A Trap, both very enjoyable, especially the scenes set in Paris as we both chorused, 'we have been there', when a building that we had in fact walked past or visited was used as a backdrop, and with the end of that we were off to bed.
