Day Eleven,

only 185 miles to Preston,

say it quickly and it does not sound too bad!

the weather had taken a turn for the better,

 nearly there!

we passed this strange looking building, it almost looks like the control tower of an airport, perhaps it is?

we chose Preston as the mileage was about right for an overnight stop,

 into the suburbs now,

we stayed at the Holiday Inn, £87.00 for the night including breakfast,

we were drawn to this covered market,

where locals had set up stalls as well as some shopkeepers, speaking of shopkeepers, one part of the High Street was dead on its feet, a row of 8 or so abandoned shops in a row, with 2 more empty units opposite, a shame for all concerned,

but there was one saving grace,

lots of public houses were still in business! we had short listed a couple for our evening meal,

we continued our walk,

towards the main square,

and church,

when we came across this appropriately named public house,

the Stanley Arms, my own pub!

now there's a worry!

we decided to eat here, a Mexican dish for Diana,

and a prawn cocktail for myself,

'Cheers!',

on to our mains, a burger for Diana,

a huge bowl of chili con carne for myself,

the name Stanley is of course a surname, not a Christian name, and with that we were back to the hotel and off to bed.
