Another One Of Those 'Good Luck' Stories,

 I like so much,

this ordinary looking bowl was bought many years ago by Major Leslie Marsham LVO, at an antiques shop, he used it occasionally then saw a similar one in sold at a auction, he realised that his bowl might be valuable, so experts from Duke’s Auctioneers of Dorchester, Dorset, confirmed its history and value, Guy Schwinge, of Duke’s Auctioneers said, 'the base bears the six character mark of the Emperor Yongzheng and the quality of the potting and the glaze is of the finest quality, it is exquisite, the porcelain produced during the reign of Yongzheng is generally regarded by scholars as the finest ever produced and the bowl exemplifies the delicate potting and exquisite glazes associated with the finest imperial porcelains of the period, the auction is likely to attract collectors from the UK Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and the US,'

the bowl was made for use by one of Emperor Yongzheng's 'first rank' concubines and dates from 18th-century between 1723 and 1735, the bowl is just 6 inches across, the guide price? £50,000! I do not know what Major Marsham paid for it, but I guess it was a lucky buy!
