there are a few that work for Western Challenge Housing Association,
trellis fencing, plant pots, rose archways and a table and chairs must go from the sheltered home’s communal area within 28 days, the edict from the local Housing Association insists, three officials turned up last month to carry out a spot inspection and found the garden was a mine field of dangerous items, I suppose we should not be too hard on the mindless and unfeeling Muppet's at the housing association, after all as they point out in a letter to the elderly residents the dangers should not be underestimated,
they include: rose thorns “cause cuts and abrasions”
garden furniture is “a trip hazard” to other residents,
pot plants, are “an obstruction to ground maintenance teams” because they are “not insured to move any items to allow access for works”,
flower pots on a patio terrace “constitute a health and safety risk in the event of a fire”,
garden swing for visiting grandchildren is “a potential trip hazard which constitutes a health and safety risk”,
a bird table “is restricting access to the windows”,
the order even includes demolishing the 16 residents’ much-loved greenhouse — put up two years ago with money from a lottery grant,
if the ageing residents of Bassett Lodge in Southampton refuse, their landlords Western Challenge Housing Association have threatened to rip apart their garden and then send them the bill, the heartbroken pensioners — the oldest aged 102 — have spent years doing up their pride-and-joy garden out of their own pockets, or relying on donations,
I am all for keeping the total of jobless people down in the UK, but I would happy welcome a rise of three if these Muppet's from Western Challenge Housing Association were added to the total of the unemployable, what a terrible way to treat the frail and elderly in our community.
