2013 Is Now Officially Over,

what I did not realise about the past year was that,


the year 2013 was  'the International Year of the Quinoa', as I am trying to stick to a diet this to us is a new seed, but it has been used since the days of the Incas who have known about it all along, who for thousands of years have regarded it as the 'mother grain' as they grew it high up in the Andes, but what makes this grain so special?


unlike wheat or rice, quinoa is a complete protein - containing all nine of the essential amino acids, it has been recognised by the United Nations as a supercrop for its health benefits: packed with dietary fibre  phosphorus, magnesium and iron, it is also gluten-free and easy to digest, the facts suggest it is close to a perfect ingredient as you can get, quinoa can be prepared much like rice, it should usually be rinsed or soaked before use to remove its bitter coating, so check packet instructions, 


so now the question is where can I buy quinoa bread to toast to go with my eggs, sausages, bacon, baked beans, fried potatoes and hash browns for breakfast?
