A Few Years Ago,

we were watching a Star Wars movie,

and buried in the sand was a set of teeth in an animals throat that devoured all who fell in them, well the picture above reminded me of the buried creature, but in this picture this throat and teeth are real,

they belong to the leatherback sea turtle, (Dermochelys coriacea), it is the largest living sea turtle and the third largest living reptile, in the world, it gets to its massive size on a diet composed of a mainly water-based organism: jellyfish, during the summer months, the turtles eat around 73 per cent of their own body weight every day, packing in around 16,000 calories, that’s around 3 to 7 times more than they actually need to survive, it seems strange to think that an organism like the jellyfish that we perceive to be mainly water can produce such a huge creature, but there it is.
