here is a way to slow things down,
the Phantom v2511 slow motion camera, it takes pictures
at the incredible rate of 25,000 frames per second, to put that
in perspective if you blink whilst reading this in the time that blink took the Phantom
v2511 has already captured more than 7,500 frames of video, expand that rate to
one second, and the v2511 captures 25,600 frames at a resolution of about 1
megapixel, a normal video is typically played back at 30 fps, which means
it's capable of producing video that's roughly 853 times slower than normal
footage, a few numbers,
39.32: Gigabytes
of memory per second used by the Phantom v2511, thousands of times more than
the iPhone 5S’s slow-motion camera.
70: The rate at which a male ruby-throated hummingbird’s wings beat per
second, measurable only through high-speed imaging.
128: The minimum FPS required for a camera to be defined as “high speed,”
by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.
12: Frames shot in less than half a second when Eadweard Muybridge
proved in 1878, that all of a horse’s hooves leave the ground during a gallop.
in case you are worried that you may miss the action you
want to record, the manufactures have added an image-based
auto-trigger that senses motion and starts capturing footage, that way, if
you're waiting on an elusive action to happen, you won't miss it trying to push
the record button in time, lets fast forward to the price, the
new v2511 will start at $150,000, a bit too rich for me, but there are other
Phantom cameras that up the resolution at the expense of frame rates, but
they’re still mighty fast, the Phantom Flex4K boasts
4,096 x 2,160 capture at 1,000 fps and 1080p recording at up to 2,000 fps, that
one will only set you back about $110,000.
