we started the day at TukCom,
after our evening meal it was a boys night out as I was meeting juu for a drink in Champions, so motorbike taxi to Soi Marine Plaza and a walk into town,
going past what was the Coyote ago-go, work was still ongoing, new doors had been fitted with work continuing inside, still no name on the door, but there was a flier on the wall I guess asking for staff,
Hollywood comes to Walking Street! well a 2 van film crew, I did not see the cameras, so they had either not started filming or were finished and packing up, I do not know how many films or parts of them are filmed in the street but it is a fairly regular occurrence, who knows one day you might see me as a extra walking along the street!
on to Champions, we spent the evening there, we were joined by Peter who had popped over for a two week break from the tax office, hopefully he will call round if he has time, if not this trip then the next, on a sad note his friend Kenny needs a hip operation, so he will not be here for some time,
on the way back we called in at one of the bars on Soi Blues Factory for a nightcap,
looking towards Walking Street from where we were sitting, then home to 388,
almost before the word hacker became modern parlance a kid finds his way into a defence computer and starts to play war, the problem being a computer thinks the game is for real, WarGames is a look at what could happen when computers have the last say in defence,
in case you think this film is far fetched just remember that back in 1979, November 9 to be precise, a training tape was mistakenly loaded into Strategic Air Command computers, the mistake is discovered before a massive retaliatory strike can be launched, as part of the alert, the so-called “Doomsday Plane” takes off,
or for the failure of a 46-cent computer chip causing the NORAD headquarters to mistakenly believe that they were under attack by Soviet missiles, some 100 U.S. B-52s were readied for take-off before the mistake was discovered!
the great thing about BluRay discs is that it has brought the price of DVDs down, like this collection, we had already watched one of them, tonight it was the turn of Charlie Wilson's War, who just happened to be a true life person, it was about his help in Afghanistan, in a covert operation to supply arms, a very entertaining film, with that we were off to bed.
