We Tend To Take Clocks For Granted,

we look at them, see the time and that is it,

some can be fun, like cuckoo clocks, but in today's modern world this has got to be the fun clock of today, it is a ferro clock called the Ferrolic, it displays the time by manipulating magnetic particles in a fluid, but here is the neat bit, you can program the magnets behind the fluid to make any shape you want, Zelf Koelman of the Eindhoven University of Technology designed the clock to be adjustable by the user, 'the software behind these electromagnets, and thus the shapes and information displayed, can be edited, Ferrolic is controlled by an intelligent internal system that is accessible through a web-browser, in this way users can assign “the creatures” to display time, text, shapes and transitions, experienced users can create animations from their own custom shapes', the down side is this sort of plaything does not come cheap, only 24 have been made so far, and they are quite expensive, around $8,300, but you have got to admit it, it is a bit different than a normal clock.
