so one of those rare days with no pictures,
time just seemed to fly past, in the afternoon we watched Skyline, which I have to say was even better second time around, just a shame more people did not like it, the film only score 4.4 on the IMDb score,
in the
evening after our evening meal a great film from Poland, Fire and Sword, the film is set against the
backdrop of the Cossack-Polish War (1648–57), with a campaign to
liberate the territory from Polish control, the uprisings are considered to be
actions that liberated the Ukrainians and set in motion the formation of the
modern nationalist movement, the Khmelnytsky Uprising was led by Hetman (military/regional title) Bohdan Khmelnytsky,
a Ukrainian nobleman who had been virtually expelled from his lands by
Aleksander Koniecpolski, a Polish magnate, as head of the local administration
of the Polish king, Daniel Czaplinski sent armed men to harass Khmelnytsky so
that he would be forced to leave, the love interest is provided when
both Bohdan and a fictional character Jan Skrzetuski, though in the film Aleksander fall for the same lady, Helena who in the film was in
fact betrothed to Bohdan, at just a touch under 3 hours the time just flew past
there were a few characters that kept the interest flowing, surprisingly Diana
watched it all the way through, which does not happen very often when she
watches some of the foreign films I buy, even more so as there is no English
dialogue, just English subtitles,
we rounded the evening off with two more from Foyle's War, the first Invasion, followed by Enemy Fire, with the end of those we were off to bed.
