as we had not seen each other for some time,
at the Punch and Judy, it is located between Pattaya 3rd Road and Thepprasit Soi 8. 62/191 Soi 8 moo 10, almost opposite the Eden Hotel,
for a late breakfast/early lunch,
dinner is served,
we were also joined today by Gary, as for food chicken Kiev for Steve, the daily special, fish and chips for Steve,
and a small English breakfast for myself,
later in the afternoon Mark called round then it was off to the evening weekend market on the Thepprasit Road,
we must have been a bit early as some of the traders were still unpacking their wares,
some cloud looking towards Jomtien,
work still not finished on the new building, the crane with a second in the distance still here,
a bit cloudy looking inland,
very cloudy in fact, after we arrived home it poured with rain,
nail varnish, special offer 10 baht each,
Bill was at the bar as I arrived so I said Hi,
and made my way around the market,
but something was different,
the normally covered over food aisle that had permanent roofs,
were now open with just tents for cover,
and what was once the open area now had permanent roofs,
so I guess in the next few weeks all of the market will look like this,
as the aisles go through a transitional stage,
I made my way to the pet section that now faced away from the main road,
and was surprised to see a selection of grafted cactus for sale,
all for just 80 baht each,
this week the aquatic shop was open,
sunset over the market,
I made my way past the now covered section,
where work was still in progress,
to the section that was permanently covered but now is not,
we meet up with Jim at the bar, but it was a Buddha day, you can consume alcohol but you can not sell or buy it, so we made a move for home, it would have been rude to sit at the bar and not buy a glass of beer, by the same token I did not want to buy a glass of water I did not want,
all day long a delicious aroma had been coming from the kitchen, Diana had made a beef stew with dumplings, it was so nice, so much so I had a second helping, well I still needed to put on a kilo or two to bring me up to my usual 77-78 kilos, well that was my excuse anyway!
Barry had very kindly lent us a film we did not have,
the 1943 German version of
Titanic, commissioned by Gobbles as a anti British war propaganda film,
it enjoyed a brief theatrical run in German occupied Europe starting in
November 1943, but not in Germany proper by order of Goebbels himself who
feared that it would weaken the German citizenry's morale instead of raising
it, Goebbels later banned the playing of the film, and it did not have a second
run, the film used the sinking of the RMS Titanic as a
setting for an attempt to discredit those dastardly British and
American money makers but at the same time glorify the bravery and
selflessness of German men, as an aside its original director, Herbert
Selpin, was arrested and later found hanged in prison after making remarks about the German navy which were considered as 'verbal treason',
to round the evening off Gravity 3D, we started watching the film in 2D but after just a few minutes the scenes in space were so good it was out with the 3d glasses and what a treat, it really felt as if you were floating around with the actors, but then we thought it had lost the plot, one of the astronauts was running short of breathable air, so her rescuer decided rather saying do not speak to conserve air he engaged the hapless victim in a conversation, so we had the victim saying to the rescuer and him replying,
'4 minutes air left' ,'OK keep talking',
'2 minutes air left', 'OK keep talking',
'1 minute air left', 'OK keep talking',
'I am out of air', 'OK keep talking',
'I am breathing Co2' 'what was your name again?',
apart from that what great special effects especially when we were both ducking space debris as the space station disintegrated, with that we were off to bed.
