Many Of Us Will Be Familiar,

with drawings like these,


 that at first glance look nothing out of the ordinary, 

 until you try to build it and get the water flowing uphill,

or works that metamorphosis from one form to another, 

they are all of the works of M. C. Escher and have until now been static, like this one above, Prentententoonstelling drawn by him in 1956, 

but now the print serves as the basis of this Droste effect gif, the artist used a mathematical grid to create the twisted perspective in the original drawing, and then researchers at Leiden University reproduced it on a computer, adjusted the perspective and applied the zooming effect, mesmerizing, and a tribute to a great artist.
