I Am Only Making One Post Today,

but I have split it into 2 parts, as there are so many photographs,

glad rags on,

Steve and Kai kindly popped round to pick us up,

and we were off to Wisley,

Kai and Diana,

we were off on our walk around the gardens,

the garden shop,

we will be looking in there when we leave,

there was quite a queue to get in, but there was hardly any waiting,

a look at the display outside,

and the pumpkins when we were inside,

a quick pose,

we made our way past one of the Citron vans that seem to be everywhere,

and a stand of grass,

a quick look towards the pond,

one of the trees had an attractive creeper growing up it,

breakfast, a quiche for Diana,

roast pork for Kai, Steve and myself had brought sandwiches with us,

whilst everyone was still eating I wandered off, and found this lovely stand of bamboo,

the stems a golden yellow in the sun,

at this time of year the cyclamens are out, these all around a tree,

making a lovely display,

breakfast over we made our way to the lake, the yellow flowers really standing out,

I do not know what there are, but they certainly stood out,

looking back to the café, it was a glorious day,

this was the creeper climbing the tree,

we were soon at the lake,

which had a nice number of fish in it,

all looking for some food,

as were the ducks,

time for a pose,

we made our way around the side of the lake,

many of the trees and shrubs in their autumnal colours,

a pose from Diana,

looking across the lake,

blue skies,

with hardly a cloud in sight,

this Korean abies koreana 'ice breaker', fir,

looked really nice in the sunlight,

as did the bark on this Tibetan cherry, prunus serrula,

we were hoeing the glass house would be open on this visit, the last time we were here it was closed because of the covid pandemic,

outside a stand of a different type of grass from the one at the café,

there was a restaurant here as well, also another 2 of the Citroen van that sellers of food and drink seem to favour,

peek a boo!

these things just have to be done,

the seeds look so nice in the sunshine,

luckily it was open, in we went,

although it looks like a banana plant this is a huge bird of paradise plant, (Strelitzia nicolai),

this is a banana plant,

there was a nice display of Solenostemon, often referred to as coleus,

the girls waiting for Steve and myself to catch up,

these looked interesting, they were all different spices of Amaryllis, I am sure we have all seen the huge flowers that are popular,

but these are totally different,

and delicate,

also overlooked in favour of their more showy cousins,

what a nice display,

we were attracted by the sound of water,

a waterfall was the centre piece of this display,

I remember we had one of these cycads (Macrozamia moorei)when we lived in Thailand, but it was nowhere as big as this one!

each part of the greenhouse was split into various groupings of plants,

a pose from Diana,

and Kai,

into another section,

and no I do not know what this is called, if you would like to see the second part of our day at Wisley. please click the Older Posts button at the bottom right of the page.
