For Over 30 Years The Bluebird Rested In The Depths Of Coniston Water,
then the wreck was raised and is being restored to it's former glory,
the ill-fated water speed record vessel is recognisable again after years of painstaking work to return it to full working order by next year, diver Bill Smith discovered the wreckage and is restoring the boat to it's former glory, Donald Campbell died in 1967 when the jet-powered boat flipped over and crashed on Coniston Water in the Lake District as he tried to break his own world water speed record,
Mr Smith has repaired about 98% of the original boat in minute detail at his workshop in North Shields, Tyne and Wear, volunteers have worked tirelessly to conserve, repair and rebuild the entire aluminium structure from front to back and the results of their labour are going on display at the workshop, hopefully it will be in the water once again briefly before it goes on permanent display at the Ruskin Museum in Coniston where an extension to accommodate the craft is being built.
