we decided to have a day on Chai Chet beach,
first thing after breakfast,
and the beach was all ours,
the place we stayed at was the Palm Beach,
we noticed that there was a massage service on the beach,
so I persuaded Diana to have one,
but before that I noticed this, another lost soul,
I gave this some thought, where do all of these lost souls end up? I at first imagined that they all ended up travelled around the world in tidal currents and ended up in a sargasso sea of lost flip-flops,
but then barnacles, mussels and other sea creature would attach themselves to the flip-flops like other objects that they colonise, for instance wood, discarded ropes, bamboo and even whales, but in some circumstances they would eventually become to heavy for the object to remain afloat, crafting their own doom the flip-flop would slowly but surely become heavier than water and sink, eventually sinking into the abyss, the valley of the lost souls, crikey it sounds like the title of a book!
but wait a second, do barnacles and other sea creatures make their homes on flip-flops or is there something in the make up of flip-flops that stops them attaching themselves, so is there really a sea of floating flip-flops out there? this is one of those moments I may be thinking too much,
back to the beach here we were,
it was going to be a long day for us,
so Diana started with a mango shake,
naturally a beer for myself,
and a shared plate of tempura prawns,
the sun was going down,
unfortunately there were not many clouds in the sky,
but it still looked quiet nice,
as the sun went down,
not long now,
and it wold be gone,
so a quick beer for me,
as the Thai Fun sailed past the bay,
the sun having gone down it was time to order our evening meal,
a few small prawn to be fried in garlic,
a fish to be severed on a charcoal soup heater,
and two huge prawns to be bar-b qued,
a nice choice of seafood to chose from,
the bar-b-q,
all systems go,
there was a star in the sky above the beach,
I took two shots of it,
but hand held it was pretty shaky,
a view along the beach,
with Diana,
a look at the bar/restaurant where we were sitting,
another failed shot at the star in the sky,
'Cheers!', from me,
as our main course arrived,
there was so much it,
two sizes of prawns,
plus a glass or two of medicinal red wine,
it all looked superb,
did I mention the fish being cooked over charcoal?
it tasted even better than it looked and to make the dish complete not a single bone in it!
plus a couple of chicken and pork kebabs,
the prawns were huge!
the fire show then started,
we had seen this a few tines before,
but these guys,
were so accomplished,
I just had,
to take lots of pictures of them,
over their arms and under their legs,
it all looked so easy,
so a quick donation to the tip box and we were all happy,
we took a final look at the bar and we were off for a quick nightcap when we returned to Paddy's Palms, we had spent 12 hours on the beach, it was so exhausting, so for us we were off to bed.
