a sad day indeed,
as it meant our holiday to Koh Chang was over,
so a look at the inside of Paddy's Palms for the last time,
the mini bus was booked for 11.20,
so we had time for a last beer,
outside the stone cladding was completed on the right hand side,
and work continued on the left hand side,
it was just like a giant heavy jigsaw puzzle,
we made our way through town,
and up the steep hill to go to the harbour,
if you look carefully there are a couple of aircraft glued to the dashboard of the car,
which means every so often there is a reflection of them in the windscreen, or is it a ghost flight?
reaching the top of the hill it was down the other side,
and on to the ferry,
a last look at Koh Chang,
and the ship was getting ready to depart,
a last look to the left,
and the right, one of the ferry's in the distance steaming towards us,
'Cheers!',
in the distance,
one of the many Thai fishing vessels that fish the area,
the incoming ferry closer now,
with a tug,
moored to the side of it,
which seemed to be taking some of the load,
we still had not cast off,
so we watched the ship tie up and the first passengers leave the ferry,
some one with good taste in motorcycles, a Ducati,
the ferry is a roll on roll off, so the cars face the way they enter the ship,
but now we were on our way, the cars are facing the 'wrong' way,
this is the front of the vessel, it has turned 180 degrees,
one of the ferry's returning to the island,
as we approach the harbour on the mainland,
the vessel,
starts to turn through 180 degrees,
so the cars can then drive off,
here is a bit of fun, the passenger on the motorbike has a pair of ears on the top of the crash helmet,
back down to the car deck and we are on our on the mainland,
the skies looked ominous,
and we had already seen a few lightening flashes,
slowly we were losing the blue skies,
the rain then started,
a real monsoon downpour,
but by the time we reached our first refreshment stop the downpour had finished,
the Amazon coffee shop had a really nice water feature,
our second stop was at a shopping store,
with fresh fruit outside,
and a coffee shop opposite,
which was huge,
and had a water feature outside,
with a few fish,
the two buildings were linked by a roof,
beside the store there appeared to be an area where produce was sold in volume, in the early morning I guess,
opposite that a huge aquarium,
housing a number of arapaima, pirarucu, or paiche as they are known, (Arapaima gigas),
it is a genus
of bonytongues native to the Amazon and Essequibo basins of South America,
time for a beer,
then back on the road again,
just in time for another downpour,
we made good time to Pattaya then it all came to a sudden halt as we went down Pattaya North,
and this was why, Beach Road was closed for the firework display, so a 'U' turn around the dolphin roundabout and back to the Sukhumvit Road, which was also chocked with traffic, but after an hour or so we finally arrived home,
so we ordered a Indian take away from Country Favourite,
masala poppadoms, chicken samosa and onion bhajis for starters,
followed by chicken madras, tikka masala and jalfrezi with aloo gobi, peas pullao rice and nam bread, what a feast! we watched some television then for all of us we were off to bed.
