and did it rain! it just poured down all day,
so much so that when the outside lights turned on three of the bulbs blew as there was water in the waterproof outside light fittings, well at least the rain was warm!
so on to the films we watched first for me a strange one, a non-action sci-fi thriller, Dr. Gibarian, part of a team at a space station studying Solaris, makes an urgent and self-described bizarre video request to his friend, civilian psychiatrist Dr. Chris Kelvin, to come to the station to deal with an unspecified phenomenon aboard the phenomenon being that the planet takes over your mind, great spaceship/station, but it is an intellectual slog, not my strong point, but the planet growing in malevolence as the film progresses is great,
National Treasure: Book of Secrets I love films like this, the story of the two Resolute desks, (there were four made), one of course now being used by today's US President just adds to the film, a bit outrageous in places but such good fun,
so like being at home, listening to the talk and seeing the characters in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, South East London at it's worst or finest depending on where you lived, four Jack-the-lads find themselves heavily - seriously heavily - in debt to an East End hard man and his enforcers after a crooked card game, overhearing their neighbours in the next flat plotting to hold up a group of out-of-their-depth drug growers, our hero's decide to stitch up the robbers in turn, now where can I buy a bren gun? you have to see the movie to see what I mean!
to round off the evening, a court room thriller which I really enjoy watching, this one A Few Good Men, Lt. Daniel Kaffee, defends two stubborn Marines who have been accused of murdering a colleague, but they claim they were just obeying orders from a senior officer, then for us off to bed.
