Slim Jim with some starters, we went to the Friday afternoon buffet,
very nicely laid out, but unfortunately extremely crowded due to the public holiday, I am saying 'Cheers!' with a glass of water, a quick glance at the wine menu soon put me off of buying a glass of wine, at 400 baht a glass water would be fine!
we had to wait for a table so we were back from the front of the restaurant, but for those nearer the windows there was a lovely view across the bay,
bar-b-qued seafood and a selection of skewered meats was the order of the day, after multiple trips to the food station we were full, due to the number of people there the food did take some time arriving, the one of the waiters when questioned said it was the weekend rush as it was a public holiday as it was a Buddha day, as Slim Jim commented, 'with more than a few hundred years notice of a Buddha day falling on the weekend and already being in possession of this years calender you would have thought extra chefs and waiters would have been laid on to cope!'
but eventually the food caught up with demand, so it was onto the desserts, mango ice cream with chocolate poured over it, for Diana,
I had the same, but by then the hotel had run out of dessert glasses, so mine was on a plate, also I just had to have a chocolate mousse,
no, these were not for me, Diana was to shy to get another dessert so I had to get them for her,
then downstairs to the hotel entrance, a great meal, it was with more than slight fascination that we also watched one of the chefs preparing sushi for the evenings buffet, we just happened to be sitting opposite and slightly to the side of where he was working, we could see the back and side of him, but he did not know we were watching him, the skill he displayed using the knife to prepare the food was amazing to watch, also many thanks to Slim Jim for inviting us and picking up the tab,
outside the hotel is this water feature, although it does not look that impressive in the picture in real life it gives the impression that the water is flowing uphill, no it is not me, I did not have a drop of wine!
Slim Jim was making a move for his home whist Diana and myself did a bit of shopping in the downstairs food hall,
looking towards the sea this is the sign to look out for on Beach Road,
we soon arrived home with the shopping and as arranged Jay and Precil called by, the girls watched a scary movie whilst Jay and myself talked the rest of that afternoon away, it was then that the garage called to say my truck was ready, but we had other plans so I will call in for it first thing on Saturday morning before Nick and Maureen call round,
next a quick shower after Jay and Precil had left and off to the Friday night market,
a few clothes stalls had opened up opposite the bar,
I had a quick walk round, but there was nothing really new this week, so I just took a quick picture of the bug stall, I am not sure if Diana will partake of any of these tonight as she said before we left she was still full from lunch,
then as arranged we meet Brian at the bar, after chatting we made our way home, feet up to watch a couple of DVD's,
Scary Movie 3 was no where near as enjoyable as 1 & 2, it had it's moments, but not enough of them,
unlike New Tricks which was a pleasure to watch all the way through both episodes in the first of the evening the team investigate the murder of a young peace protester, killed near a nuclear base in 1984, followed by the second episode of the evening, the killing of a ten year old boy on a golf course 20 years ago, the team investigate, but who is guilty of rape also in the golf club? and then for us off to bed, the blog is more than a bit late today, in a story of mishap, bad luck and breakdowns all will be revealed tomorrow!
