council clerk Fiona Thomas said today: 'the lights are still up while we've been taking surveys and getting in place necessary permission and infrastructure work, the lights were crisis managed by Shifnal Town Council, we've been measuring the festoon and taking photographs for next year, there's a firm commitment by Shifnal Town Council to utilise the existing lights where possible, the surveys just had to be done', the first week in February and no decision has yet been made by Shifnal Town Council about how to take the lights down, I wonder how long it would take the council to make really important decisions?

Town Hall In Crisis!
council tied up by red tape!
but the good news is that in Shifnal, Shropshire it is Christmas every day! the award-winning display of Christmas lights is still festooned over the streets, why? I hear you ask, well, health and safety red tape has delayed them being taken down, the same H & S rules that nearly stopped them from being put up, but they have not yet been taken down because members of the council have had to carry out surveys to avoid any future problems,
