We Had A Few Things To Do Today,

so as we were out and about we stopped off at the fishing tackle shop, we are going fishing in a few days time, so we decided to buy the bait today, next stop the petrol station, which was packed, last week they had sold out of 95, this week there was no 95 or red 91, only green 91, I wonder what has happened to supplies? but then on to the aquarium on Sumkivitt, we have lost the occasional fish over the past few months, so we bought a few small ones to grow up to take their places,
I wanted to have another look at the nursery where we bought a couple of bonsai trees, but at the front it is almost all orchids,
some in presentation baskets, all ready to go,
also at the front of the shop a bonsai in a rustic pot, a tree stump,
a more traditional one in a clay pot,
there were three more on display along the road that runs down the side of the nursery,
this one almost looking like a dead tree stump,
a few hibiscus and hanging baskets,
I must admit I have never seen a hibiscus trained to grow like a standard rose, like this yellow one,
I have to say it, these baskets always remind me of the 1960's 'Afro' look hairstyle,
next stop Fascino, for my vitamins and skin cream for Diana,
we then decided to have an afternoon meal at the excellent Casa Pascal, coffee, sandwiches and cake, we enjoyed it so much last time we were there, we went in the afternoon as we already knew it would be closed in the morning as there was a sign outside saying closed for breakfast, no mention of being closed in the afternoon or evening, what we did not know was they meant closed for the whole day, just a small thing but if you are going to close all day not just the morning say so, so then off to the Beer Garden for our snack,
the view from the side walk looking along Pattaya Beach past the water treatment plant,
although difficult to see Diana commented how few people there were on the beach,
we chose a table next to the sea in the shade, considering the time the place was surprisingly crowded with dinners,
what to chose?
a 45 baht draught beer of course!
soup and rice for Diana,
fried chicken with cashew nuts and vegetables for me with boiled rice,
'Cheers!' from both of us,
as we had eaten we wanted just a snack in the evening, so we settled for a prawn salad, but we had to buy some salad,
also a few potatoes for later in the week,
for this evening some fresh pineapple,
and mangoes, Diana uses the blender we bought almost every night to make fruit drinks,
I think Diana was tempted by these, but in the end walked past them, nice colours though,
then home feet up for the first of tonight's films, The Vengeance of She, a beautiful young European girl, Carol, is taken over by the spirit of Ayesha, queen of the lost city of Kuma, she is led to the city by mysterious voices in her head, when will the voices ever stop?
we then watched the second chapter of Tony Robinson's Crime and Punishment, Guilty as Charred, Tony gets medieval and finds out how a turbulent 150 years left us with professional judges, trial by jury and a set of laws for the entire country, visits a town where Norman ideas have inspired punishments for modern day ASBO offenders,
next something completely different, Black Books, a Bafta-winning sitcom about the antics of foul tempered and wildly eccentric bookshop owner Bernard Black, his long-haired and long-suffering assistant, Manny, and his best (in fact only) friend, Fran, it will take a little getting use to but so far there have been more than a few laughs along the way, more to come tomorrow,
to round off the evening none other than Poirot, Murder on the Orient Express, railway director and fellow Belgian Monsieur Bouc secures Poirot a last minute berth on the Orient Express, returning to England from Istanbul, Ratchett, an abrasive American businessman, traveling with his valet and male secretary, tries to secure Poirot's services as he fears that his life is in danger, it appears that his fears were not unfounded, also as an aside Poirot did in fact drive the Orient Express back in November 2010, then for us off to bed.

Hi Stan & Diana, Great blog as ever.

I love 'Black Books'! .. An aquired taste for some, but I find it hilarious!!

Did you hear that the legendary boxer Sir Henry Cooper has sadly passed away? A true champ, and a South-East London boy like yourself.

Dear Mocha Joe, yes I can see that Black Books is an acquired taste but the good news is that both Diana and myself find it so funny, it is just a shame that only 21 episodes were produced.

I heard that Sir Henry had died on the BBC news, a great shame, a real South-East London geezer, did you know his identical twin, George, died last year in April? best regards, Stan and Diana.
