Our Last Morning At Lands End,

started with some bad news,

the weather was so bad, that all flights had been cancelled to the Scilly Isles, so not to worry as we tucked into breakfast, the flights and our hotel, the Tregarthens Hotel on the island, refunding our payments in full, so on to Plan 'B' Dave, always have a plan 'B', for ourselves the plan was to book into a hotel in Penzance for a couple of days,

which we did, after breakfast we booked the room,

and here we are at the Queens Hotel, Penzance, right on the sea front,

we could not book in until 3.00 in the afternoon, so we went for a very wet and windy walk around town, starting with the Morrab Gardens

which is one of the towns public gardens,

this huge magnolia in full flower, well it was until the wind pulled the petals from the flowers,

the wind having no effect on the many types of bamboo here,

we continued our walk, past the Admiral Benbow public house which looked great fun, with it's own sharpshooter atop,

many of the buildings have fantastical frontages,

now booked into the hotel we settled down,

for a drink, and a cake for Diana,

our room was huge,

unlike many hotels that have been subdivided, this one kept all of its large rooms,

so a couple of beers to while away the rest of the afternoon as it was chucking it down outside, we had a 1st floor room, which gave us great views of hapless pedestrians being soaked, as waves crashed against the sea wall, the resulting spray soaking the unwary,

downstairs in the multi mirrored lift,

to the local Indian restaurant, the Taj Mahal,

'Cheers!',

prawn puris for both of us for starters,

our main courses consisted of a lamb dish,

one of chicken,

and a mixed grill,

mushroom rice,

and some nan bread,

it was a feast,

the meal came to just on £60.00, including drinks,

speaking of which,

we just had to stop at the hotels bar,

and relax,

whilst tinkling the ivories,

we sat in the lounge opposite the reception area,

what a way to finish the day,

and yes it was a Kraken! and with that we were off to bed.
