and you thought fish were fun!
love or hate fishing it is a shame to see that one of the UK's largest carp has died, Benson, who weighed in at 64lb (29kg) and was incidentally worth £20,000, was found dead in his pool at Kingfisher Lake in the Bluebell Lakes complex near Tansor in Peterborough last Wednesday, it is suspected that he died after some one feed him some nuts that his system could not cope with,
Benson was voted Britain's Favourite Carp by the readers of Angler's Mail in 2005,
He had been the star attraction at the lake for more than 15 years since being introduced as 24.5lb tiddler during their first carp stock in 1995, the biggest mirror carp in the UK is known as Two Tone and weighed 67lb when he was last caught at Mid Kent Fisheries, Kent in April 2008, over here I do not do as much fishing as I did as a kid in the UK, but over here we eat what we catch!
the great news for the river and lake loving public was that anglers, when I was a kid, united and stood up to factories and industry and took them to court for polluting the rivers that untreated waste went into that killed the fish, if anglers than had not made the public aware of how bad things were then I hate to think what rivers in the UK would be like now.
