Cowboys And Indians,

come to Pattaya, well the area by Banglamung police station, it was the show ground for the 6th. Eastern cattle show during the day and a concert at night, the broucher could of helped with a map, the banners over the roads were a bit misleading as well, they stated '6th annual cattle show, Pattaya City', no local signage whatsoever, but we found it having been told where it was going to take place,
first breakfast of fresh fruit,
then on to the show, no entrance fee, just walk in, I was surprised how big some of the animals were,
Diana was surprised as well and more than a little nervous as she kept asking 'do they bite?' the only thing I could think of saying was that they had a very hard lick!
Diana was by now starting to be a bit more confidant,
and was happy to stand with one behind her,
and this is how to get one home if you buy one,
Diana was all ohs and ah's as she watched this one suckling,
'why does everyone call me big ears?'
Diana really confident now,
one of the prize winners, all of these here are a breed called Brahman, originally from India this medium size breed has been well received throughout the world, bulls will generally weigh from 1600 to 2200 pounds and cows from 1000 to 1400 pounds in average condition, if you are interested look here for the SK Pattaya Ranch or here for the Thai Brahman Breeders Association and other links to Thai Cowboy sites,
by now Diana had found the shop section of the show, clothes first,
then the food stalls,
and more clothes,
and more food!
I noticed that the prices here were very competitive, the food sticks normally cost 10 - 15 baht, but only 5 baht here, also sunglasses 50 baht a pair, normally in town 100 baht+,
and lots of stuff to keep the kids amused, slot car racing,
train rides and a bouncy castle,
and a pool with paddle boats,
this is the main stage being made ready for the evenings concert,
although there was a Cowboys and Indian theme there were no horses, except these wooden rocking horses, naturally Diana wanted one!
so many to chose from it was at this time we bumped into Alan, Nok and their son Jenson, they have just returned from the UK and says Hi to everyone that knows them,
there were so many 'cowboy shops' here and a huskie,
also a small section selling plants, in this case roses, I have never had much luck with them over here, I am guessing but I think the cut roses we buy here are grown up North where it is a bit cooler,
also there were a few of these plants, I do not know what they are called, but the ones we have do not have this bright red colour,
and of course a few orchids, these ones at night have a really delicate perfume,
a close up of the flowers,
more cowboy shops, but Diana did not buy a thing, you could have knocked me down with a feather!
on the way back we went through old town Nagula,
it seems a shame that perhaps some of the oldest parts of town are going to be demolished, but I guess nothing stays the same forever, then off for something to eat.
