we needed a few items, firstly some plug adaptors, the ones that make a 2 pin round plug into a 2 pin flat plug, also some 2 disc DVD cases for some of the BluRay DVDs Phil had so kindly brought over for us, but although we bought some single cases it appears that the doubles could not even be ordered in Bangkok so I will have some sent over,

next stop the bank - again! during the day Jay and Precil called in for a chat along with Mark so the day just flew past, we watched a few programmes we had recorded later in the evening, the peace and quiet being broken as Diana screamed as she saw some thing moving towards her feet on the floor,

we had an uninvited guest, a frog, which we put outside to enjoy the evenings downpour of rain, then the lights went out for the 3 times weekly power cut, candles and torches at the ready after 20 minutes or so power was restored, it is strange, for several years may be the power would go out for once every two years or so, but over the past few weeks it has gone of two, three or more times a week,

I mentioned that Phil had kindly brought a couple of DVDs over for us, the first we watched was a BluRay one, The Day After Tomorrow, as you might expect stunning shots, especially over the ice shelf at the beginning of the movie, but then Diana said it looked the same to her as the normal DVD, oh well at least it was not too expensive, but great to watch never the less, as the world is going to enter a new ice age,

watching Longitude was almost like meeting old friends, the book I had read of the same title made you feel as if you knew the characters so well, the film just reinforced old acquaintances, another bonus for us was that we had seen the 4 original Harrison clocks at the Royal Observatory at Greenwich when Diana and myself visited there last year, the film's main story is that of craftsman John Harrison making an accurate clock that could travel at sea without losing time, that way ships could accurately know where they were at sea for the first time, told in parallel is the 20th century story of Rupert Gould, for whom the restoration of Harrison's clocks to working order became first a hobby, then an obsession that threatened to wreck his life, based on real events a fascinating film to watch,

series 7 is well on the way in MI5, with episode #7.2, convinced that his Russian counterpart in London, Arkady Katchimov, is behind the Al Qaeda bombing that killed Adam Carter, Harry Pearce launches an unauthorized investigation, meanwhile there may be an unidentified Russian submarine in British waters, so much happening in the world that the public never know about, but for us we were off to bed.
