Not A Lot Of Things That We Find Interesting, Amusing Or Just Plain Weird

in the news today so straight on with today's post,

during the day we watched some DVDs, but in the early evening it was off to the market,

Diana is buying some fresh fruit to nibble on later in the evening,

in this case a pomelo, it is like a grapefruit,

whilst waiting for Diana I noticed two things in the distance,

a hand cart selling money boxes,

and these hanging birds nests, I am not sure what they are used for here, the stall they were hanging from was actually selling fresh fruit,

Diana also bought some fresh prawns for tonight's starter of prawn cocktail,

we started with True Legend, a flying kick boxing epic, Su Qi-Er retired from his life as a renowned Qing dynasty general in order to pursue his dream of a family and his own martial arts school, however, Su's peaceful life is shattered when his vengeful adopted brother, Yuan Lie, kidnaps his son and leaves Su for dead, then the fighting or at least training for it begins, if you can suspend disbelief and like other flying people movies, think the X-Men series, then this is for you, but good though the action is the film does not have an English soundtrack, but the English subtitles have been added by I would guess a native English speaker,

I just love this film, though it was a bit of a flop in the US, 1941 puts together a number of things that happened in the US, in 1941 and as it happens also in 1942/3, Japanese submarines off the coast, anti aircraft guns put in peoples front yards, San Fransisco blacked out for 6 hours due to an air raid with thousands of rounds fired into the sky at nothing, not to mention the Zoot Suits riots, to name just a few true happenings that feature in this big budget Steven Spielberg movie,

the last in the quadrilogy of X-Men movies was up next, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, two mutant brothers, Logan and Victor, born 200 years ago, suffer childhood trauma and have only each other to depend on, basically, they're fighters and killers, living from war to war through U.S. history, in modern times, a U.S. colonel, Stryker, recruits them and other mutants as commandos, easier said than done, although I said this is last in the series there is another X-Men movie in the pipe line, the first 4 of course not to every ones taste but we think they are great so we are looking forward to The Wolverine, where he travels to Japan to train with a samurai warrior, but not due out for some time yet,

finally we watched the rest of Edward & Mrs. Simpson, a sad story of love, loyalty and duty as Edward gives up the throne for the woman he loved, by now it was late so for us off to bed.
