The Reason Yesterdays Post Was Late,

was that we had decided to take a trip to one of the coral islands,

Koh Larn as it is called,

it was quite early,

we were boarding the 08.00 ferry,

which made good time,

taking just 40 minutes to reach the island,

instead of the usual 50 minutes or so, something to do with the wind and tide I guess,
we made our way along to the beach,

passing this shrine,

and this one which I do not believe was here on our last visit,

as we made our way along the path behind the beach there were lots of items to tempt us,

we had not eaten breakfast yet,

so we decided on a coffee,

after that Diana went back to order our breakfast and have a swim,

chicken fried rice for both of us,

then later in the day some liquid refreshment, well I did not want to risk becoming dehydrated!

all too soon our day came to an end,

I say too soon, the day just sailed past, but then I took a great read with me, The Keys Of Egypt, it is a true story of the Race to Read the Hieroglyphs, I just could not put the book down despite reading it several years ago,

so 199 pages later we were on our way home,

Diana with the beach in the background,

another speed boat leaves for Pattaya,

the water here is still nice and clear, it is strange to think that the picture that is at the top of our blog was taken by myself back in 1982 when Duncan and myself first came out here, not this exact beach but one similar, hardly a soul on the beach in those days, how times have changed,
a couple of boats from the fishing fleet were in,

the beach slowly disappearing in the distance,

there are quicker ways to get back, normally a speed boat costs 300 baht each for the return trip, but I guess with few customers having funds to pay that amount today the price had gone down to 200 baht each,

but we were happy with the 30 baht fare from the boat we were on like this one,

this is the first breach on the island, a bit small but then as you need to hire a bike to get there is is not as crowded  as the main beach,

not that I suggest you try it, but some folk have taken a jet ski from Pattaya to the islands, just make sure it is full of fuel before you take off!

on the way back I was intrigued by this boat, or at least what was on the back of it,

a water slide into the sea,

one of the fishing boats returning home,

not long to go now,

it seems strange, last week we were eating here watching the tourists boats come back to Pattaya and this week we are on one

the newly formed harbour wall,

which finishes,

giving way to the new jetty, I am guessing floating pontoons will be for small boats the ferries still using the Bali Hai pier,

nearly there,

just a few moments to go,

then we are on the jetty,

so a walk towards the shore,

naturally a quick pose with Pattaya beach in the background,

we then sat at the bar at the end of the jetty, we cooled off with a drink watching holiday makers returning from the island,

the pilings for the new jetty in the distance,

a coke for Diana,

I settled for a beer,

at the back of the bar a lady was preparing and cooking some food, so Diana bought some for when we returned home,

after a shower and my evening meal, a ham salad, we settled down to watch some satellite television followed by a few more from Black Books, then as we were both tired from the exertions of the day and it was late we were off to bed.
