we arrived at the temple complex,
and made our way inside,
the show is held in the grounds of the WatYansangwararam Temple complex,
and features produce and plants,
we arrived in the early afternoon,
so it was not too crowded,
we made our way through some of the food aisles, hot chestnuts seem to be a favourite out here,
chicken on a stick,
or a duck for later,
next into the plant section,
the variety of plants is almost beyond description,
as is the number of different types of fruit trees available,
these look different,
just a bare trunk with growth only at the top,
well I just had to take a picture of some orchids,
there were so many here,
these particularly nice,
one of the many cactus stalls, but we did not buy any here,
locally made items were available for purchase,
I do enjoy playing with plants,
but I think that these gardening tools are a bit too big for our garden,
more fruit tees,
the glass animal man as I call him was here again this year,
hard at work,
it was a joy to watch him,
and here is some he made previously, a case containing some fish,
in
this case a flowerhorn cichlid, with a large nuchal hump on it's head, hence the name,
of course we can not forget,
it is Valentines day,
as well as the main aisles there are lots of smaller stalls to explore,
Diana strikes the pose,
as do I by the side of a lady made of fruit and vegetables,
another orchid stall,
I am always so tempted to buy some,
when I see some like these,
and yet again,
I wish our garden was big enough for a fish pond,
when I see waterlilies like these,
last year there must have been 5 or 6 banana growers showing all manner of different colour and sized bananas, but this year just one grower was here,
many of the stalls are arranged around this central area,
with beds of flowers and produce around the huge tree that grows in the plot,
we past another cactus stall,
and a orchid stall,
but this orchid is different to many, it has the most delicate fragrance,
the next stall sold air plants,
or Tillandsia as they are known,
we did have a number of them, but I have to admit they did not do so well, but the small ones at 3 for 100 baht I just had to try them again,
a small growing orchid specie,
I regret to say I do not know which one,
this part of the growing area has been cropped and the produce is for sale,
looking back to the big tree,
and towards the water tower,
a nice desert rose, or Adenium as they are called,
a few bonsai,
I bought 2 some time ago, they did not do well,
we then came across another cactus stall,
but this one had some that were not the same as many of the other stalls and markets we had been to,
the ones on the floor were 3 for 100 baht, just pick up the provided long nose pliers and put you choice in the tray,
the ones on the tables bigger and a little more expensive,
choice made,
one of our new ones,
and we left all of these behind,
we continued along the central growing area,
as we made our way towards the flower section,
we both enjoy eating papaya,
and here they are in abundance,
I made my way to the sunflowers,
which for some reason were looking at the ground and not the sun,
then a bit of fun, one of the conservation stalls had a rescued baby bear,
which youngsters could bottle feed,
what a pretty flower!
and speaking of flowers,
Diana in a sea of marigolds,
and here was a bit of luck, I still had my camera in my hand as Diana fell over,
we are growing small mini bitter oranges,
called Calamondins, which is what they are known as in the Philippines,
lots more fruit trees,
and orchids,
we have seen this type many times before,
they are known as Cattleya,
but these were the biggest we had ever seen, the flowers were huge,
the stall next door had orchids with smaller flowers,
but in cascades,
now are these plants,
or pets?
I do not have a clue as to what they are, but they look like the tribbles from a Star Trek episode,
we have seen these mushroom growing kits before,
and for a bit of fun bought one each, we went for the top quality one and splashed out 15 baht each, evidently in 8 weeks of care we should find some mushrooms,
we started to make our way back to the truck,
passing lots of handicraft,
and food stalls,
I am not sure if this is a bargain or not, but certainly for most things we looked at the prices were less here than most other places we have been to,
as we made our way back,
in the few hours we had been her the place had become very crowded,
but we had to make one more purchase before we left, some sticky rice for Diana which she just loves,
on our way home, we spotted this, the things you find in the back of trucks! as there are a lot of pictures I have made a separate post for this evening, if you want to see it, just click the 'older posts' button.
