to go fishing with Nick and Maureen,
but things slowed to a crawl on the Sumkivitt Road, one lane was closed as the palm trees in the central divide were being removed, the dust just had to be seen to be believed and I nearly washed the truck last week!
I am guessing that the divide was going to be a part of the new tunnel going under Pattaya,
work had already started on the junction at Pattaya Central Road and Sumkivitt some weeks ago,
after picking up Nick and Maureen we went back to the plant nursery on Soi Siam Country Club Road,
it is located just past the traffic lights on the way to the lake,
we made our way past the big tree,
into the main plant section, firstly for some plants that can grow in full sunlight,
and then to the covered section,
to look for some plants that like the shade or can be grown indoors,
'I will have, that one',
the truck loaded and we were on our way,
to the fishing park, well I knew we were going to have a good day,
Nick was in to a fish before I had even made my first cast,
and it was big enough to eat, so of to the kitchen he went,
as it was hot we decided on dessert first,
Nick had baked a lemon meringue, which was delicious,
then my turn to catch a fish,
a keeper, so into the net he went,
one more for Nick,
and one more for me,
food time!
for us and the cats,
mum and kitten doing fine,
Diana had also ordered some papaya pok-pok, which was so hot hot she had to have an ice cube after eating it!
another fisherman at the end of the broad walk into a fish,
it was so hot,
with not a cloud in the sky,
we continued almost alternately catching fish all afternoon, some times Nick in the lead sometimes myself,
then a bit of excitement on the football field behind us,
a fire truck had arrived,
to water the grass,
then it was time to go, we took a few home the score at a huge 15-15, as it got late we just could not catch the tie breaker,
if you want to fish here, it is the Mamak fishing park, their map above, it is off of Soi Nub Plan Wan, (spelt as it sounds), turn into the Soi from Sumkivitt, over the railway crossing and continue for a couple of miles, the road starts to go downhill, near the bottom of it you will see the road the fishing park is on the right hand side, follow that for a while, it twists and turns a bit and the fishing park is on the left next to a soccer ground, there are rods and tackle for hire and bait to buy, plus a fridge full of beer!
arriving at Nick and Maureen's they had planted the plants they had bought the last time we were here,
their tomato plants put ours to shame,
for our evening meal Nick had baked a chicken and mushroom pie,
with vegetables,
'Hi everyone!',
eyes down time to eat, I was so full I had to decline the cheese and biscuits, Diana had the ice cream though!
on to the important part of the evening, Monopoly! no prizes for guessing who won, after thanking Nick and Maureen for looking after us so well we made a move for home, then feet up a couple of programs from TMN and we were off to bed.
