you may remember that my computer stopped working a few days ago,
the screen went blue and in white the message something like there is a problem, restart in safe mode and call a technician appeared, well as you might have expected it did not restart and is being picked up on Tuesday, so I used Diana's laptop, guess what? yes you are there before me, it suddenly refused to talk to the Internet, we have rebooted the wi-fi, pushed buttons, pulled levers and twiddled knobs, none of which work, in desperation I started my computer and it worked! which is a bit embarrassing as it is being picked up in 2 hours time, but I just hope it hangs together long enough to complete this post which is a large one, so straight on with it! I began the day playing with cactus,
covering the large holes at the bottom of the new pot or tray if you like we had bought,
a touch of gravel on the bottom of the pot and first plant in,
several more to go,
all in and a couple of rocks for decoration,
next a layer of gravel,
the idea of which is to stop the soil being washed away when the plants are watered and stop weeds from growing, also I think it looks nice,
cactus watered, so now wait for them to grow and hopefully flower,
speaking of which this one is growing a new bud,
as is this one, first thing and the bud is hardly open,
but in a few hours time there was a slight movement,
and by mid afternoon it had opened quite nicely,
I also noticed that this 'stone cactus' had a few buds,
small but perfectly formed, it will be interesting to watch the flowers develop over the next few days,
in the afternoon Russ called by,
we had arranged for a taxi to take us to Ban Ampour for a sunset seafood super, we were going to eat at Prchai, but it was closed for refurbishment, so we settled on tree@sea,
which was a few hundred yards away,
and this of course was the tree,
the last time we were here with Russ he was plagued by cats, it looks like they are still here!
Diana by the tree bar,
we decided to sit outside, this is the bar from the beach,
the perfect way to eat and watch the sunset,
the view looking towards the Ocean Marina and Pattaya,
and out to sea,
looking next door we did not remember this restaurant being here before,
there did not seem to be any customers so maybe it is not open yet,
one fishing boat in the bay next door,
it was at this point that Russ said "Hi' to Mark his brother and his family with the traditional British postcard message, 'wish you were here!'
this is the life,
a panorama of the beach and restaurant,
our first course of the evening, prawn pancakes,
and crab fried rice,
the service as you might expect was first class,
prawn tempura,
was followed by chicken satay with a peanut dip,
the sun starts to slowly set,
as the tom yum goong arrived, it worked out just right, 3 huge prawns were in the soup, one each,
we were tempted to move chairs to watch the sun,
but we stayed where we were,
as seafarers made their way back to Pattaya,
nearly gone,
then the moon was out, which was at the time 372,705.92 kilometres away from us and was 29% illuminated, it is amazing what apps you can have on a mobile telephone,
back to the food, this time prawn fried rice and morning glory,
curried crab was next,
the sun now totally gone,
the evening getting dark,
our last course of the evening, a fish to pick on with mango slices,
the sun down and the moon at night,
the restaurant now lit up,
as was this part of the beach,
then the cat appeared,
and decided to use my feet as a pillow,
no food?
so it decided to take a catnap,
which is where we left it,
the tree bar now illuminated,
we made our way past the food display,
and back to the entrance,
for a pose or two,
a last look at the restaurant entrance,
if you do decide to eat here and all three of us thoroughly recommend it, this is the sign to look out for, our meal came to 2,400 baht including a 300 baht corkage charge for our wine which we brought with us,
the restaurants card,
and map, to say we had a great meal is the understatement of the year, we arrived back home safe and sound and spent the rest of the evening chatting away, we said our farewells to Russ before a nightcap, so if there are not any posts from now for the next few days it means that both my computer and Diana's laptop is being repaired, with that we were off to bed.
