I Am Not Really Into Guns,

but I do enjoy science fiction movies,

so when I saw this gun I tried to imagine what new science fiction film it might be used in, looking at it the weapon is shorter than a normal rifle, because the ammunition is carried behind the trigger, this configuration is called a bullpup, the main effect of the bullpup design is that rifles can be shorter without losing any effectiveness, it appears the gun can install either a three-round grenade launcher or a shotgun, as any gamer will know shotguns are useful in close quarters, while grenade launchers give more range than just hand-tossing a small explosive, but here is the news, Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) and Colt Canada have developed this weapon for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), the rifle has been in development since 2009, designed to give Canadian troops a lighter, better weapon, the main gun fires 5.56 ammo, a standard NATO round and future plans for the gun include smart targeting systems,

the video above is the gun in action, apparently it could weigh less according to the DRDC than the Colt C7 Rifle Canada currently uses, the rifle’s planned data integration means that it will collect information and also receive it from command, in battles this could be useful to troops, and afterwards that data can better inform Canadian gunmakers as they plan for guns beyond this one and there was me thinking the gun was going to take on aliens!
